Detergent & Soap Compounding · Process Route Map

Everything here is surfactant, builder, and water.

Laundry, dish, household, industrial cleaning, and vehicle wash all run on the same short list of raw materials arranged in different ratios. What separates a compounder who makes money from one who does not is usually the price and the reliability of five or six line items. This page names those materials at every step and marks which of them are on our floor right now.

Why this page reads differently from the others.

Most industry pages on this site describe what the market uses. This one describes what is in the building. The surfactant slate runs from sulphonic acid and SLES through betaine, amides, and the full Surfonic nonionic range, sitting next to sodium xylene sulfonate, glycol ether EB, caustic, soda ash, silicates, seven grades of STPP, and four chelant families. That combination covers the majority of a liquid or powder formula.

In this business the raw material price is the business. Compounders compete on a few cents per pound across a short list, and surfactant markets move. We would rather have that conversation before your costing does than after.

Sourced to order

What we will bring in for you.

These are not stocked today. They are named here because they sit directly alongside what we do carry, and because a formulator would rather see an honest list than a padded one.

EnzymesProtease, amylase and lipase. The largest single gap on this page given the builder, surfactant and alkalinity depth already carried.
Amine oxidesLauramine and cocamine oxide. Foam stability in hand dish and acid stable thickening in bowl gels, both of which the current slate cannot deliver.
Quaternary ammonium compoundsThe dominant registered disinfectant class across institutional and healthcare cleaning.
Optical brightenersPerceived whitening in laundry, and one of the highest impact additives per dollar in the category.
Polymer thickenersAcrylates, cellulosics and gums for structured liquids and clinging gels.
Isothiazolinone preservativesBusan 1060 and Killem cover part of this. A broad spectrum in-can blend would close it.
EsterquatsFabric softener actives, a category the current cationic position does not reach at all.
Fragrance oilsSourced to order today. Dipropylene glycol fragrance grade is already stocked as the carrier.

How Lowe helps

In this business, the raw material price is the business.

A formula that penciled in January does not always pencil in July. Surfactant markets move, freight moves, and package economics change the landed cost more than most people expect.
